The eye bath directs as much fluid as possible to the eye without excessive waste and also helps keep the eye open. The dust cap forms part of the vial and also serves as an opening mechanism. The buffered eyewash neutralizes splashes of acids or bases, while at the same time diluting and flushing away hazardous substances.
